Coasia to strengthen camera module business in 2021

Coasia said on Monday at it shareholders’ meeting that it strengthen its camera module business this year.

It will also focus on expanding its system semiconductor business, which it started in 2020, the company said.

Coasia will take part in the management of Coasia Optics, formerly called Diostech, which it acquired last year.

Coasia Lee Hee-jun, also known as Harrison Lee, was also renamed the chairman of the company at the shareholders’ meeting. CEO Wi Jong-muk was also renamed to his post.

Lee founded Coasia in 1997. He worked at Taiwan as a Samsung employee prior to the company’s founding. He used that experience to focus on semiconductor distribution in Taiwan.

The chairman founded subsidiary Coasia Semi last year. Last year, company was named design solution partner by Samsung Foundry and an official partner of Arm.

CEO Wi has also been the CEO of Coasia Optics since last year.
