Hana Technology said on Wednesday that it has purchased two patents related to display glass processing.

The battery equipment maker bought the patents through a court auction.

Laminex, which originally filed for the patents, had them sized by the Suwon District Court back in 2017.

The patents 2012-0002573 and 2012-0084531 are related to cutting the corner of the glasses.

Hana said the technology will use a cutting apparatus that is heated with high frequency induction heating to cut the corners of a frozen glass substrate.

There is no dust and the cut corner can removed like a strip, the company said. The technology means companies won’t need large furnaces to heat up the glasses before cutting. There is also no need to cool down or anneal the glass.

The company said it plans to expand into flexible display glass equipment.
