Prices of DRAM and NAND flash that spiked in April has flattened in May.

Fixed price of DDR4 8Gb PC DRAM was US$3.8 in May, same as it was in April, according to DRAMeXchange.

Conventionally, the price of memory in the second month of a quarter remains the same as the first month when new contracts are negotiated.

In April, DRAM price increased 26.67% from the previous month. It was the highest spike in 51 months (35.8% of January 2017).

Fixed price of 128Gb MLC NAND flash was US$4.56, also the same as April. The price hike in April from the previous was the first in 13 months.

Fixed prices of 1Gb, 2Gb and 4Gb SLC NAND flash prices were US$0.95, US$1.28 and US$1.74, respectively. MLC NAND prices increased slightly due to some supply issues.

Market research firm TrendForce estimates that PC DRAM price will rise 3% to 8% in July. The firm earlier estimated at rise of 10% to 15%.
