Graphcore to supply IPU to NHN’s data center

Firms to collaborate in AI

AI chip firm Graphcore said on Monday that it will be supplying its intelligence processing unit (IPU)-point of delivery (POD) system to NHN for the latter’s data center being built at Gwangju.

The IPU can handle around 9,000 independent parallel processing threats through 1,472 parallel processing cores and 900MB ultra fast on-die memory, the company said.

Graphcore’s solutions for data centers is based on its IPU-POD systems such as IPU-POD64 that offers 16 petaFLOPS of AI computing, the company said.

The company and NHN will collaborate in developing core technologies for open stack, NHN’s cloud for public systems, receives certification for the pair’s AI cloud by certified third parties, and marketing to promote AI and machine learning ecosystems.
