Chip testing firm APACT said on Monday that it plans to start a new system semiconductor backend business for new growth.

The company will open a new sales office in Pangyo to start the business in full-scale, it said.

APACT will place sales personnel and engineers at the new office to aggressively win orders, it said.

The company has been communicating with major fabless companies since February, it said.

Talks with several of these companies were going positively and it was aiming to win orders from them in the second half of the year, APACT said.

APACT currently relies on orders from SK Hynix for most of its sales in the memory chip sector.

It recently built a second factory at Eumseong to expand into the system chip sector.

The new factory has a cleanroom and is ready to meet orders from system chip firms, APACT said.
