SK Hynix’s acquisition of Intel’s NAND business unit has received the approval from UK’s antitrust watchdog.

The Competition and Markets Authority gave its unconditional approval of the deal on Monday.

In October last year, the South Korean memory giant announced that it would be acquiring Intel’s NAND and SSD business units for US$9 billion.

The deal requires approval from eight antitrust authorities. Those in the US, Europe, South Korea, Taiwan and Brazil has approved the deal prior to UK’s.

It now requires approvals from China and Singapore. SK Hynix said it aims to complete the process within the year.
