Cosmo Advanced Materials on Monday said it has recorded 5.8 billion won in operating income in the second quarter.

It is an increase of 167% from the same time period a year ago.

The company said its main businesses, NCM battery cathodes and films for multi layer ceramic capacitors, led the growth.

Cosmo recently said it plans to spend 150 billion won to add 50,000 metric tonnes a year in production capacity for its NCM cathode.

When the expansion is completed in 2023, the company will have a capacity of 70,000 metric tonnes per year.

Last year, the company spent 25 billion won to expand its MLCC film production capacity.
