Samsung Electronics on Tuesday launched on a new processor for wearable devices that was built with its 5-nanometer extreme ultraviolet process.

Exynos W920 will power the upcoming Galaxy Watch 4 that will be unveiled this week.

The chip sports Arm Cortex-A55 CPU cores and a Mali-G68 GPU core.

Samsung said CPU performance increased 20% and graphic performance by ten times compared to its predecessor Exynos 9110.

Exynos W920 will also support 3D watch faces and smooth screen transitions, the company said.

The processor will also pack a Cortex-M55 for Always On Display modes to conserve power.

Samsung also applied fan-out panel level package and system-in-package-embedded package on package technologies for its latest chip for a compact size.

The processor packs in the power management IC, LPDDR4X and eMMC in one package.

The chip also sports a LTE modem and GNSS L1 sensor.
