Auros Technology said on Tuesday that it has posted 30.28 billion won in sales from the January to June time period.

This already exceeds the sales of the overlay equipment maker’s sales of 17.5 billion won for the entire year of 2020.

Auros recorded 22.6 billion won in sales during the first quarter and 7.6 billion won during the second quarter.

Increased spending facilities by customers in the first quarter helped earnings, the South Korean company said.

The firm recorded 9.5 billion won in operating income during the first half of the year.

Auros’ main product is 12-inch overlay measurement equipment. The kit is used to measure whether the circuits on the top and bottom layers are aligned correctly.

Overlay equipment are in high demand from chip firms as they are crucial in determining the yield rate of production lines.

Auros is the only overlay equipment manufacture in South Korean and competes with KLA and ASML.

The South Korean firm is expected to ship more equipment to local and Chinese companies during the remainder of the year.

It is also expected to increase 8-inch overlay equipment shipment in the second half of the year.

The firm developed its own 8-inch overlay equipment called OL-100n and supplied it to a South Korean research institute in June. It will supply another unit to the institute in October.

The equipment is being used by its Taiwanese and South Korean customers.
