The International Meeting on Information Display 2021 (IMID) kicked off on Wednesday at COEX in South Korea but showed lackluster turnout.

The event was originally scheduled to take place last year but delayed from the COVID-19 pandemic.

A total of 205 companies, including Samsung Display, LG Display and Merck, are taking part but this is 10% less than two years ago. They have set up booths at the C Hall at COEX.

Korea Display Industry Association, which is co-hosting the conference, expects there to be 5,000 participants that actually visit the offline booths.

A person involved with the even said as of Wednesday, the first day turnout of participants seemed a third of 2019.

IMID is also holding online events besides the physical booths.

LG Display CTO Yoon Soo-young, in his keynote speech, touted the increased applications of OLED technology.

Both LG Display and Samsung Display displayed their various OLED technologies in their respective booths.
