Display inspection equipment maker Engion said Thursday that it has developed an OLED display oxide chip thin film measurement equipment.

The kit is for IGZO (indium, gallium and zinc oxide) thin film.

Engion said it will develop a version of the measurement equipment for mobile OLED panels within the year.

IGZO is used in thin-film transistors (TFT) of OLED panels __ specifically TFT for large-sized OLED panels and low temperature polycrystalline oxide (LTPO) oxide TFT.

The technology is used by both LG Display and Samsung Display for their OLED panel productions.

Engion said its latest equipment can test the electric characteristic of IGZO, which is impossible for previous kits.

The latest equipment can measure threshold voltage, regular voltage and current characteristics of the IGZO after it is made, the company said.

This will allow companies to detect defects quickly and improve productivity in OLED production.

The equipment is named Vigth.

It is also aiming to develop a version of the equipment for Gen 8.5 OLED panels.
