LX Semicon to develop 3D sensing solution with Microsoft 

LX Semicon said on Wednesday that it will co-develop a solution that uses 3D time of light sensing technology with Microsoft.

ToF shoots light to the object and measures the distance between them by measuring how long it takes for the light to reflect back.

3D ToF is used in virtual and augmented reality technologies.

Apple and other smartphone makers are putting it in their smartphones while it is seeing demand in from industrial use as well.

Microsoft has been applying the technology in gaming and its mix reality lens.

LX Semicon said it has been looking for sensing technology to apply in home internet of things, distribution and automobile sectors.

The firm will develop a new solution using Microsoft’s 3D sensing technology, it added.
