South Korean fabless firm Eyenix said on Monday that it has recently started the production of its latest SoC for security cameras.

EN675 is made based on RISC-V architecture and begun production in July.

The SoC packs an image signal processor, video codec, CPU and neural processing unit.

This allows the chip to process image data, compress them, send them over networks and encrypt them as well.

EN675 also comes with an AI algorithm that improves image resolution and adaptive ROI image compress technology, Eyenix said.

The chip is being manufactured using Samsung Foundry’s 28nm process.

Demand for sophisticated security cameras is increasing as more of them support features such as object and people recognition.

However, SoC needed in them are in short supply due to US sanctions against HiSilicon, which is the world’s largest maker of SoC for security cameras.
