Samsung introduces software solution for CXL memory
Company offers memory development kit
Samsung on Thursday introduced its open-source software solution that will help developers develop Compute Express Link (CXL) memory.
The interface was proposed by companies to design more efficient data centers.
Samsung unveiled its first CXL DRAM in May.
The recent solution, a scalable memory development kit, is a software tool that includes API and a library.
Samsung’s kit will enable the main memory and the CXL memory expander to work together seamlessly in heterogeneous memory systems, the South Korean tech giant said.
It also supports memory virtualization, allowing system designers to efficiently manage an expanded memory pool in shared memory architectures, Samsung said.
Leveraging a proprietary Intelligent Tiering Engine, the kit can identify and configure the memory capacity and bandwidth that are most appropriate for each use case, the company added.
The kit, currently available for limited testing, will be fully open-sourced sometime next year.
