Synopsys Korea forms chip IP development center 

Synopsys Korea said on Thursday that it plans to form a semiconductor IP development research center in South Korea to hire more local talents and strengthen customer support.

Synopsys offers TCAD/OPC solutionㄴ used to develop semiconductor processes and devices. It also offers design and verification tools and IP solutions used by customers to design their memory chips and SoCs.

The company applies its design technology co-optimization solution to offer customers an integrated IT solution with high reliability and productivity, it says.

Synopsys Korea said it will offer support for its customers Samsung Electronics, SK Hynix and other fabless companies through the new research center.

It will also hire local developers to work SERDES IP, which is widely used by South Korean chip companies, the company said.

It will also hire people to work on foundation IPs such as logic library and memory compiler, the firm said.
