BASF opens engineering plastics center in South Korea 

BASF has opened a center in South Korea to test polymer materials and offer support for local customers.

The company said on Tuesday that it has opened Engineering Plastics Innovation Center Korea, or EPIC Korea, at Ansan.

BASF recently acquired Solvay’s polyamide business, strengthening its R&D capacity at APAC.

It said EPIC Korea will verify South Korean customers' new technologies and technology levels.

The center can test various polymer materials, from polyamide to PBT and POM.

The center also offers strengthened development technologies for flame retardant and coloring products, BASF said, allowing customers to meet requirements in the e-mobility, electric and electronic market.

The center also offers strengthened computational fluid dynamics, allowing BASF to perform projects related to cooling and heating systems in South Korea.

The center also houses equipment for the development of Ultraform products, the company said.
