Yes Power Technix said on Monday that it will be building new infrastructure at the city of Busan to mass-produce 6-inch silicon carbide (SiC) power management ICs.

It was chosen by Busan Techno Park as the company to move into its Power Semiconductor Commercialization Center.

The center was set up by the government to promote the South Korean SiC industry.

It provides 28 manufacturing equipment as well as a space of 1,244 meters square. The center is also planning to build a cleanroom.

Yes Power Technix currently manufactures 4-inch and 6-inch wafer SiC power management ICs. It is currently expanding its existing 6-inch wafer production facility to double its production capacity.

It is planning to use the center for research and foundry services for customers, the company said.

Demand for SiC power management ICs is on the rise from electric vehicles.
