Samsung said on Thursday that it has promoted 198 executives in its year-end reshuffle this year.

The company said it has chosen those in their 30s and 40s as vice presidents and executive vice presidents.

Promotions were made across all its business units, from TV, smartphones to chips.

Samsung said it wanted to accelerate its shift to build a horizontal business culture and foster young and talented executives.

The South Korean tech giant also said it has promoted 17 women and foreigners to executive positions in this year’s reshuffle, the most number for women and foreigners ever.

Samsung said it also promoted software executives across its business units.

Last week, the conglomerate announced changes to its CEO and president positions. It combined its mobile and consumer electronics divisions into one called Set Division, which will now be led by new CEO Han Jong-hee, who will also continue to head Samsung's TV business unit.
