SK Hynix said on Wednesday that it has shipped a 24Gb DDR5 chip to an unspecified customer.

Currently, commercialized DDR5 chips offer a maximum capacity of 16Gb.

SK Hynix said it applied its Gen 4 (1a) 10-nanometer process node for its latest memory chip.

It also used extreme ultraviolet (EUV) lithography during its production, the South Korean memory giant said.

The 24Gb DDR5 chip is also up to 33% faster than the 16Gb DDR5 chip, SK Hynix added, while power consumption was reduced by around 25%.

The latest chip will be grouped into 48GB and 96GB modules for use in cloud and data centers, the company said.
