DNA Motors to install battery swapping stations
Over 200 across South Korea
Two-wheeler maker DNA Motors will build over 200 battery swapping stations across South Korea, the company said on Monday.
The company is planning to collaborate with food delivery company Baedal Minjok and oil company GS Caltex to build the stations next year.
DNA Motors is planning the move to make sure electric two-wheelers are affordable as the South Korean government is planning to reduce the subsidies it has given for electric vehicles.
The stations will be able to swap over six battery packs at a time.
The swapping of batteries will allow electric two-wheelers to drive for longer distances.
DNA Motors was chosen as the lead company to install such stations last year by the Ministry of Enviroment.
It has installed 80 such stations in Seoul so far.
