Fab equipment maker Intekplus’ machine vision camera is expected to be used in Samsung Display’s production facility for foldable display modules in Vietnam, TheElec has learned.

Intekplus will be supplying its camera to an equipment supplier to Samsung Display, sources said.

Machine vision is an industrial camera made out of a high-resolution camera, image processor and analytic software.

It can measure at micrometer levels and is widely used to inspect for defects during the production of semiconductors, displays and lithium-ion batteries.

Intekplus has been applying its machine vision camera to its own 2D and 3D inspection equipment.

It has been attempting to sell its machine vision camera separately since this year due to the high demand for them.

Samsung Display is planning to expand its foldable display module lines in Vietnam next year from its current seven lines to ten, which will benefit suppliers such as Intekplus.

The South Korean display panel was currently reviewing two inspection equipment suppliers, both of which are planning to use Intekplus’ camera. This means Intekplus will be supplying its goods no matter which inspection equipment vendor Samsung Display ultimately chooses.
