Samsung’s Q4 earnings slightly below analyst expectations

Samsung said on Friday that it recorded 76 trillion won in revenue and 13.8 trillion won in operating income in the fourth quarter of 2021.

Revenue increased by 23.48% year-on-year while operating income jumped 52.49% over the same time period.

But the operating income figure is below South Korean analysts’ consensus of 15.7 trillion won.

Analysts said demand for DRAM and NAND flash memory chips were stronger than expected, while at the same time Samsung saw sales of its foldable phones go up during the quarter.

For the entire year of 2021, Samsung recorded 279 trillion won in revenue and 51.57 trillion won in operating profit.
