Samsung Harman acquires German AR HUD software firm Apostera
Auto-component firm to apply software to digital cockpits
Samsung’s automotive component subsidiary Harman acquired German augmented reality (AR) and mixed reality (MR) head-up display (HUD) software firm Apostera.
Harman said it will apply the software by the startup, founded in 2017, to its digital cockpit solutions.
According to the Samsung subsidiary, Apostera’s mixed reality solution combines augmented reality, machine learning, computer vision and sensor fusion in a hardware-agnostic software platform.
Combined with Harman’s digital cockpit product portfolio, these new software solutions will bridge the gap between the physical and digital worlds, the Samsung subsidiary said.
US automotive firm Harman was acquired by Samsung in 2017. The company recorded 600 billion won in annual operating income last year, its highest profit since it was acquired by the South Korean tech giant.]
