Korea Fuel-Tech develops own VR headset 

Car component firm says it is aiming to become mobile entertainment firm

Automobile component firm Korea Fuel-Tech Corporation has developed its own virtual reality (VR) headset.

The prototype is called V300i and the company had applied an optical design to resolve the dizziness issue common in VR headsets, the company said.

The device has a 2160x2160 resolution and can view image that is 300-inch wide.

It comes with an HDMI port as well as a mirroring wireless connection. V300i can be connected TVs, PCs, monitors, game consoles and mobile devices.

Korea Fuel-Tech Corporation, unlike come of its competitors that are developing components for electric and hydrogen vehicles, is aiming to become a mobile entertainment company, a spokesperson said.

Analyst firm TrendForce expects shipment of VR and augmented reality headsets to reach 14.19 million units this year, an increase of 43.9% compared to 2021.

This will grow even higher to 18.81 million units in 2023, a 32.56% year-on-year increase, according to TrendForce.

Korea Fuel-Tech Corporation was founded in 1996 and specializes in automobile canisters.

Last year, it recorded 465.7 billion won in revenue and 9.7 billion won in operating profit, an increase of 13.7% and 56.9%, respectively, from 2021.
