AI chip designed with SemiFive platform to go into production this year
It is the first case of its turn-key service
A 14-nanometer (nm) AI SoC designed with SemiFive’s design platform will go into production during the second half of the year, the company said on Friday.
The development of the AI chip, which was designed for data center and edge AI applications, had been completed last year in collaboration with the customer, SemiFive said.
SemiFive’s chip design platform offers IP and architecture for customers to design chips.
The company collaborates with Samsung Foundry and offers design and production in a turn-key fashion.
The production of the 14nm chip is the first execution of this turn-key service.
A SemiFive spokesperson said the project was significant as it will allow the company to expand its turn-key service instead of executing individual contract works.
