SK Hynix said on Tuesday that it has launched a new enterprise solid-state drive (SSD) that uses 128-layer NAND flashes.

P5530 also uses controllers provided by the South Korean chip giant’s subsidiary Solidigm, which was formed in San Hose following the completion of the first stages of the acquisition of Intel’s NAND business unit.

The new SSD operates on PCIe 4 interface and comes in 1TB, 2TB and 4TB.

SK Hynix said the SSD was being tested by customers in their data centers.

The South Korean chip giant is a major player in NAND flash memory chips for smartphones but lacks behind in the enterprise sector to rivals such as Samsung.
