Cryo H&I develops ultra-low temperature refrigerator
At minus 253 Celsius used to transport liquid hydrogen
Cryo vacuum pump company Cryo H&I said on Tuesday that it has developed an ultra-low temperature refrigerator that can test the compression and tensile characteristics of metals.
The machine can offer temperatures at minus 253 Celsius and is aimed at companies that need to store liquid hydrogen and develop metals for transport containers.
Hydrogen becomes liquid at minus 252.7 Celsius while volume is reduced to one-six hundredths compared to when it was gas, allowing companies to save costs on their transportation.
The machines that contain hydrogen must also be durable and this was tested with liquid helium (minus 269 Celsius) while most refrigerators were high-priced and imported from the US or Japan.
The refrigerator can be used in semiconductor, display and aerospace sectors as well as healthcare and quantum computers, Cryo H&I said.
Cryo H&I was formed in September 2020 and had so far secured 3 billion won in investment.
