Semiconductor back-end firm Hana Micron will start operations of its new factory in Vietnam before year’s end, TheElec has learned.

The new factory will supply more for SK Hynix as compared to Samsung, sources said.

A senior executive of Hana Micron said excluding sales from abroad, Samsung had so far accounted for 90% of its revenue with the remainder from SK Hynix.

But the new factory will change this to around 50/50 between the two companies, they said.

Hana Micron, founded in August 2001, offers full turn-key service for back-end chip production from packaging to testing.

It offers various packaging services from wire bonding to bump and is also developing the latest technologies such as flip chip, flexible and wafer-level packaging.

Its customers include Samsung, SK Hynix and NXP Semiconductors. The company also has factories in South Korean and Brazil.
