Enerever to complete new separator factory this month
Company to spend 127.6 billion won on factory
Enerever Battery Solution is expected to complete the construction of its new battery separator factory in South Korea this month.
The factory at Wanju will be the third made by a South Korean company locally after SK IE Technology and WCP.
Enerever spend 50 billion won starting in April 2021 for the factory and is planning to spend a total of 127.6 billion won on the factory up to 2026.
The factory will take up 2,730 meter square of space at Wanju and has Kokam and Routejade as its customers.
Wet separators will be made first at the factory by coating fabrics; Enerever had previously been a coating supplier for LG Chem’s separator production.
Enerever uses water-based binders which is advantageous in retaining the shape of the coating material compared to oil-based counterparts.
The company mixes boehmite and alumina for the coating material which can increase its heat resistance to over 180 Celsius degrees.
Enerever is also aiming to use coating material that can withstand over 200 Celsius degrees which is optimal for batteries for electric vehicles that support over 800V charging. Enerever can also coat in various thicknesses.
The company was founded by CEO Shin Sang-ki, who previously worked at Samsung SDI, in 2012.
