Fab equipment coating and cleaning solution firm Komico is planning to spend at least US$30 million to expand its factory in Austin, Texas, TheElec has learned.

The move is done to better react to customer Samsung’s demand there as the tech giant is building a new foundry fab in Taylor.

It provides Samsung’s Austin fab with cleaning and coasting solutions for etching and other wafer processes.

It built its first factory there in 2006 and the new factory will be built right next to it. The company will receive incentives from the local city council and its total capacity from Austin is expected to increase by 50% in 2025.

Meanwhile, Komico completed its new factory in Oregon, where its major customer Intel has their D1X fab.

Intel is planning to spend US$3 billion to expand its D1X fab, which will continue to provide Komico with steady revenue.
