Avaco to supply new roll press equipment to LG Energy Solution 

Battery equipment maker Avaco is expected to begin supplying its new roll press equipment to LG Energy Solution within the year, TheElec has learned.

Roll press equipment is used during the electrode process in battery production to form positive and negative tabs.

Avaco’s equipment is used to form the negative tab and is expected to be used at LG Energy Solution’s second factory at Ochang.

Avaco also has roll press equipment to form the positive tab, it is more lucrative as the roll press, which weighs in tonnes, is used to press cathode materials nickel, cobalt, manganese and others constantly.

Avaco has also collaborated with LG CNS to develop logistics automation equipment, which it is hoping to supply to Ultium Cells, the joint venture between LG Energy Solution and General Motors.
