Samsung Electronics has raised its TV shipment target this year to 43 million this year, according to market research firm IHS Markit. The figure is bigger than the estimated shipment of 41.4 million for last year. Originally, Samsung had said it would ship up to 43 million.

In October, Samsung shipped 6 million TVs, up 28% from a year earlier.

Market experts say the goal is not overly ambitious or unattainable since the company at one time shipped up to 50 million TVs a year.

In the third quarter, the company is now looking to purchase more LCD panels for TVs. Both Samsung and LG is now expected to buy 18% more of the panels in that quarter, partly due to the forecasts that panel prices would bottom out, according to IHS Markit.

It added that Samsung appears to have more aggressive sales plans compared to LG, indicating its commitment to hit this year'sTV sales goals. Intensifying competition from Chinese rivals such as TCL in North America are cited as some of the reasons Samsung has decided to up its game.
