Intek Plus in talks to supply Samsung, SK hynix

South Korean testing equipment firm Intek Plus is looking to supply new package testing equipment including Large Form Factors (LFF) to Samsung Electronics and SK hynix, according to Intek Plus CEO Lee Sang-hoon on Dec. 6.

“We are currently undergoing trials with the two firms, and SK hynix gave a green light,” said Lee. ”We are now waiting for results from Samsung.”

Intek Plus’ LFF technology is applicable for large package products, unlike its rivals. Intek Plus has also successfully supplied to Intel. The six-dimension testing technology, meanwhile, is more thorough compared to the four-dimension technology of most companies.

Intek Plus sells mostly external testing equipment for semiconductors, displays and batteries based on its machine vision technology.

This year, the company is expecting to post revenues of KRW 40 billion and an operating profit of KRW 4 billion. As of the third quarter this year, sales stood at KRW 27.7 billion, with about 68% from semiconductor packaging equipment and technology.

In 2020, the company is hoping to more aggressively expand in the areas of display and battery equipment to attain more stability. In displays, Intek Plus expects to supply more equipment related to testing flexible displays. In February, it bagged a deal with China’s BOE, and CSOT is currently testing out Intek Plus. The Korean supplier is also planning to enter the medical equipment market.
