Galaxy A51 to be launched on Dec. 12

Samsung Electronics’ Galaxy A51, which will be the series’ first phone enabling macro photography, will be revealed for the first time in Vietnam on Dec. 12, according to industry sources on Dec. 9.

Samsung’s Vietnamese corporation will also launch other A series smartphones in the Galaxy lineup including the Galaxy A71, they said.

The A51 will be fitted with camera lens from South Korean supplier Kolen to allow extreme close-ups of objects such as flowers and insects. Previously, users had to purchase special lens for such photos.

In addition to the 5 million pixel close-up lens, the phone will also sport a 48 million pixel basic camera, a 12 million pixel optical range camera and a 5 million pixel depth-of-field camera – courtesy of Camsys. Both the lens and camera module will begin to be mass produced this month, according to those close to the matter.

On the front of the smartphone, there will be a 32 million camera, with the screen using punch hole display.

On Dec. 2, the Vietnamese corporation had said in a teaser on Youtube that it would be revealing the new Galaxy A series for the new year on the 12th. Samsung’s Seoul headquarters declined to confirm.

Meanwhile, the A50 unveiled in June this year had a triple camera in the rear. It was the first in the A series to sport an optical display embedded fingerprint recognition sensor. The screen used the Infinity-U display.
