The A10 was the best-selling Samsung smartphone in 2019 selling just over 30 million handsets, according to market research firm Omdia on Mar. 26.

When compared against global rivals, the A10 fared at third place. In first place was Apple’s iPhone KR that sold 46.3 million handsets, followed by the iPhone 11 that sold 37.3 million.

The Galaxy A50 was the 4th most-sold model with sales of 24.2 million, and the Galaxy A20 the 5th with 19.2 million. At 6th place was the iPhone 11 Pro Max, followed by the iPhone 8. At 8th place was Xiaomi’s Hongmi Note 7, which sold 16.4 million handsets on the back of their popularity in India. Huawei, however, failed to make it to the list.

The iPhone 11 Pro was at 9th place with 15.5 million, and the Galaxy J2 Core stood at 10th place with 15.2 million.

In a nutshell, Apple had five models among the top 10, while Samsung’s flagship Galaxy S10 series were pushed outside of the list.

In 2018, Samsung had three models in the top 10 group, with the Galaxy S9 at 7th by selling 19.3 million and the Galaxy S9+ at 8th with 16.1 million. The Galaxy Grand Prime Plus had also been among the top 10 best-sellers.

Omdia noted that mid-tier phones sold better in 2019, and also that Samsung’s strategy to release variations of its flagship products proved to be obstacles in selling the Galaxy S10.

In the 5G smartphone market, Samsung Electronics accounted for 49%, while Huawei tookhome 27%. Vivo and Oppo each had 12% and 5%.

CounterPoint, however, said Samsung had a 43% market share, while Huawei had 34% in 2019. Strategy Analytics gave Huawei a 36.9%, and Samsung Electronics 35.8%.
