Lime Globe, Surplus Global to open semiconductor education center

Education firm Lime Globe and used-equipment seller Surplus Global will open a new semiconductor equipment education center in South Korea, the companies said Thursday.

The center, called Semicon Globe, will open in June 15, they said. The center is at Pyeongtaek, Gyeonggi Province, where Samsung has a semiconductor plant.

Those seeking a job in a semiconductor equipment company or those already working in one who wants further expertise will be the target.

Surplus Global is providing the space and some 1,000 equipment __ such as wafer scanners and etchers, as well as deposition machines.

Semicon Globe will provide theory and training classes for 45-nanometer, 300 millimeter equipment.  

The center will expand its footing to Yongin __ where South Korea is planning to building a semiconductor cluster __ next year.
