Telechips, adding SIGMA MEDIA CAS to their 14-nano set-top box chipset Lion

Telechips announced on the 20th that they have signed a strategic partnership with the world’s largest CAS (Conditional Access System) Company SIGMA MEDIA.

In addition, they have added that their new set-top box chipset, Lion, is planning to obtain SIGMA MEDIA 4K CAS certification.

‘Lion’ was produced using a 14-nano Finfet process. The company explained that the chipset will provide the highest level of graphical performance while having an extremely low power drain. It also supports all types of HDR (High Dynamic Range) technologies such as HDR10, HLG, and Dolby Vision.

A representative of the company also added that ‘By integrating with the SIGMA MEDIA CAS, The Lion chipset will provide stronger security.” Global companies such as Astro, Bharti Airtel, China DTG, Foxtel,Oi, and Tata Sky are currently adopting the SIGMA MEDIA CAS.

CAS, which stands for Conditional Access System, is a solution adopted by service providers to prevent the illegal copying and piracy of paid content.To be released in the market, every set-top box chipset must include a CAS chosen by the service provider.
