SK Telecom will assist in a government led program to help small- and medium-sized enterprises (SME) apply smart factory solutions in their facilities, the telco said Friday.

The carrier, together with Korea Polytechnic University which is under the supervision of the Ministry of Trade Industry and Energy, will help some 4,000 companies at Ansan.

Ansan, just south of the capital Seoul, is home to some 10,000 manufacturing companies, or around 25% of the national total.

SK Telecom and the university will provide assistance in education, cost and research for these companies.

The telco will also provide its 5G-based big data analytic solution, called Metatron Grandview, for the university that will, in turn, use it within its facilities in education classes for the SMEs.
