Seoul Viosys will launch a new portable air purifier with ultraviolet LED technology next month in South Korea and the US, the company said Tuesday.

Called VAC, it will use a short wavelength LED that can kill germs and viruses, including COVID-19, the Korean firm said.

It analyzes the photon light from the LED __ called violeds by the company __ as soon as it captures a virus, the company said, allowing the filters to block them.

This differs from other purifiers without UV LED that can block micro-dusts that are over 3 micrometers in size, but can’t block Sars-type viruses that are smaller than 1 micrometers.

VAC will launch with the Seoul Viosys branding as of now but will supplied to partners after the COVID-19 pandemic stabilizes, the company said.
