Qualcomm introduces XR Viewers

The chip giant will roll out device with 15 telcos

Qualcomm will launch Extended Reality (XR) Viewers in collaboration with 15 global telcos, the company said Wednesday.

At Augmented World Expo hosted by the company, it said the XR Viewers will come in glasses tethered to a 5G-enabled smartphone via USB-C cable.

South Korean telcos SK Telecom, KT and LG Uplus, as well as China Mobile, China Telecom, China Unicom, Deutsche Telekom, EE, KDDI, NTT DOCOMO, Orange, SoftBank, Telefonica, Verizon and Vodafone will commercialize the device, Qualcomm said, which will provide a new immersive experience over 5G networks. 

The global XR ecosystem is positioned to expand with the roll out 5G networks thanks to superior cellular connectivity with quality hardware, the US chip giant said.
