Prof. Yoo Jae-Soo of Chung-Ang Univ. (Department of Chemical Engineering and Materials Science) has been named as the next president of the Korea Information Display Society (KIDS).

Prof. Yoo has been elected as the 12th president at an extraordinary general meeting which took place on the 20th. Prof. Yoo will lead the KIDS from next year, following the current president Shin Sung-Tae (Korea University). Prof. Yoo stated that “We will thoroughly prepare for the preliminary feasibility study for the Advanced Technology Development Project (G7 Project).”

New executives were also elected. Instead of the previous Chief Vice President Lee Chang-Hee, who moved to Samsung Display from Seoul University, Lee Dong-Hoon (President, Samsung Display) has been named as the next Chief Vice President. Barring unforeseen circumstances, President Lee must be the next president after Professor Yoo. The last entrepreneur president was Yeo Sang-Duk (President, LG Display, 2017).

Next year’s ‘International Meeting on Information Display (IMID)’ is held in Gyeongju, South Korea. Afterward, it is decided to be held together with the IMID exhibition, which is hosted by the Korea Display Industry Association. Its plan is to combine the academic conference with the exhibition and hold a special, professional event to show the powerful status of South Korea within the display industry.

It will be the first time in eight years since the academic conference was separated from the exhibition in 2012.
