
LG Electronics has supplied an ultra-large LED screen to a movie theater in Taiwan, the company said on Thursday.
It is the first commercialization of the South Korean hardware maker’s LG LED Cinema Display, LG said.
It was installed in at 300-seat movie theater run by local cinema chain Showtime Cinema.
The display has a width of 14 meters and length of 7 meters and support 4K (4096×2160) resolution. Each LED module represents one pixel, LG said, and the display boasts high contrast ratio and color accuracy.
There will be also be less distortion and more uniformity compared to movie screens displayed wtih projectors, the company added.
LG is also offering Dolby Atmos surround sound with the display as well as Dolby’s Integrated Media Server.
LG LED Cinema Display has also been certified by the Digital Cinema Initiatives in resolution, sound and security, the South Korean company added.
