Seoul Viosys will supply its proprietary Violeds technology to Chinese air conditioner giant Gree, the company said on Wednesday.
Violeds technology uses ultraviolet light to kill germs or viruses and can be attached on air purifying systems.
It will power Gree’s new Fresh Air air conditioner. It will be attached inside the appliance and kill viruses and germs in air that passes through, Seoul Viosys said.
The South Korean company said Fresh Air scored a 99.15% sterilization rate for viruses and germs at China’s government-backed microorganism research lab, thanks to Violeds. It killed viruses EV71 and H1N1 at a rate of 98% and staphylococcus at a rate of 99 %, Seoul Viosys said.
The company was also supplying Violeds technology to US company RGF, it added.
