UBI Research will hold a day-long seminar in organic light emitting diode (OLED) and quantum dot nanorod LED (QNED) next month, the research firm said on Friday.
It will be held at COEX, Seoul on July 16. It will be available online as well, UBI Research said.
Analysts at UBI Research will present their reports on various topics ranging from OLED market forecast and Chinese panel companies’ business statuses, the newest technology and in foldable OLED and related materials market as well as QNED technology. They will also discuss the competence of future large-sized Liquid Crystal Display (LCD).
The first lectures in the morning will cover how the OLED market for smartphones and TVs will change post-COVID-19. It will also give UBI Research’s forecast for Chinese OLED panel makers’ future market shares.
In late afternoon, UBI Research will share its own findings in QNED production technology. They will forecast the competence of QNED, QD-OLED, WRGB OLED and MiniLED LCD display technologies. Those who participate will get weekly reports by UBI Research for free.
Meanwhile, LCD TV makers are applying QD, or quantum dots, against the rise of OLED TV as well as applying MiniLED backlights on LCD TVs for higher contrast ratios.
Samsung Display, which is planning to exit its LCD business within the year, is planning to roll out QD Displays. It was also researching QNED displays as a follow-up to QD-OLED.
UBI Research claimed that Samsung’s TV business may avoid QD-OLED as it was stressing peak brightness and HDR on its current TV brands. QNED, unlike QD-OLED, can be more attractive for the TV business thanks to its high brightness, the research firm claimed.
