SK Hynix has chosen three of its subcontractors to co-develop semiconductor devices and equipment, the company said on Tuesday.
It is the company’s fourth selection in its technology innovation companies program where it selects subcontractors with advanced technology that will allow the goods in question to be produced domestically instead of imported.
Semics, LK Engineering and Evertech Enterprise were selected, SK Hynix said. Semics produces wafer prober systems. LK makes electrostatic chucks used to hold wafers in place. Evertech makes flux used to connect the wafer with the substrate.
SK Hynix said it hoped to strengthen South Korea’s semiconductor ecosystem further through the collaborations.
The companies will collaborate for the next two years. The subcontractors can test the goods on SK Hynix’s commercial production line, which reduces product development time.
The South Korean memory maker started the program back in 2017.
