Kolon Industries will show off its components for hydrogen fuel cell at a tradeshow in South Korea.
The company will display its proton-exchange membrane (PEM), membrane electrode assembly (MEA) and water management devices at H2 Mobility+Energy Show 2020 at KINTEX, Ilsan from Wednesday to Friday.
Kolon will also announce the progresses in its research and development __ including the development status of its carbon PEM __ as well as production plans for the future, the company said.
The company partnered with Hyundai Motor Company to develop the water management device back in 2013. It aims to have a global market share of over 50% in the area.
Kolon began development of MEA back in 2014 and has since built a pilot line at its research complex at Magok, Seoul. The company is wrapping up development of MEA for buildings and cars to sell in South Korea and China. It plans to commercialize them next year and it is going through client reviews at this time.
In PEM, which it started development back in 2008, it has secured core technology for carbon reinforced composite membrane and is continuing research in the area to differentiate from competitors.
Kolon said it aims to become an integrated solution provider in hydrogen fuel cell and expand to the housing, drone, heavy equipment, trains and shipping sectors, not just hydrogen automobiles.
