LG Uplus is collaborating with robotics firm Future Robot to develop a 5G-connected robot that check whether people are wearing face masks, the company said on Thursday.
The 5G robot will be tested at H Plus Yangji Hospital.
The robot will move around autonomously within buildings to recognize faces, measure temperatures and check whether face masks are properly worn.
They will notify control when they find someone without a mask on, LG Uplus said.
Control will also be able to check back on the people that robot screened.
The telco said it hopes the robots can help to make environments safer amid the COVID-19 pandemic.
