3D cover glass maker JNTC is planning to invest US$100 million to construct a third factory in Vietnam, the company said.
The factory will be built near Hanoi where its Vietnamese subsidiary JNTC Vina is located.
The facility will take up a space of 73,000 meters-square, the South Korean glass manufacturer said.
Cover windows for wearable devices will be made in the new factory starting in March, 2021.
JNTC Vina had a capital increase of US$15 million, JNTC also said, and it will increase investment volume up to the first half of 2021.
The company also plans to expand its production capacity for glasses for automobiles and ultra-small cameras as well as ultrathin glass for foldable and rollable devices, it said.
The building of the third factory will allow it to supply small, medium and large sized cover glasses.
Wearable devices is expected to spur its growth thanks to the rise of remote healthcare and medical services in light of the COVID-19 pandemic, JNTC said.
