Samsung Display said on Thursday that it was sending a hundred employees to India to wrap up construction of its organic light emitting diode (OLED) module factory there.

The staff, numbering a hundred people of its own and suppliers’, will visit its OLED factory under construction at Noida city of the Gautam Buddh Nagar district at Uttar Pradesh state.

They will leave on Saturday and go through testing for COVID-19 at New Delhi on arrival and be quarantined before they visit the factory.

Samsung Display said the employees will finish installing equipment at the factory.

The OLED module factory started construction early this year and was made to supply components to Samsung Electronics’ smartphone factory in Noida, which was completed back in 2018.

Samsung Display formed its India regional subsidiary in July of last year.

The new OLED module factory will likely start operations sometime in the first half of 2021 __ it will allow Samsung Electronics to react faster to local demand. Samsung recently retook its top spot in smartphones in India from Xiaomi.
