Company hopes application expand to cars and signage

LG Display’s Cinematic Sound OLED (CS) technology has been listed as the standard for sound emitting display by the Korean Agency for Technology and Standards.
The South Korean display panel maker first launched the OLED panels that use the technology in 2016.
The technology uses the display panel as the vibration board to allow them to emit sound without the need of speakers.
Previous standards were made based on conventional speakers that limited them in use for evaluating and measuring CSO, LG Display said.
But the new standard will help the company expand the application of the technology outside of TVs to automobiles and digital signage, the company added.
The agency is also planning to have the standard listed by the IEC.
